-
19. listopadu 2025
12:30 – 14:00 - Ostravská univerzita, Budova B, Aula (Českobratrská 16, Moravská Ostrava)
The lecture is designed for students interested in exploring the future transformation of European industrial regions, which face numerous challenges, including a weak innovation system, limited job opportunities for young people, outmigration of young people to large metropolitan regions, gradual deindustrialisation, industrial pollution, an ageing population, and risks associated with climate change. To address these complex challenges, the regions are also attempting to reorient themselves from traditional resource-based industries to new green and digital industries, while attracting highly skilled international labour, foreign investments, and striving to become globally competitive, as also highlighted in the DRAGHI 2024 report (i.e. The Future of European Competitiveness). In this lecture, students will gain valuable knowledge about the current state of the art in regional transformation in the Moravian-Silesian region, as well as future opportunities for developing cleantech entrepreneurial ecosystems and ongoing initiatives related to the development of a circular economy. The lecture will also provide comparative examples from other European and Nordic regions, allowing students to gain new insights into regional transformation at a European level. The students will also engage in group discussions, and by the end of the lecture, will have the opportunity to learn more about working collaboratively to develop a better future for themselves in the Moravian Silesian region.
