Taking Humans into Account When Designing Graphs

Graphs are a critical means of communication. However, graph makers often receive very little training on how to use graphs to communicate effectively. In this lecture, we will discuss the importance of graphing, some fundamental principles of good graphs, and share some examples and explanations of good and not-so-good graphs.

prof. Eric Hiris, Ph.D. belongs to Department of Psychology, FA UO. His main area of psychology is cognition and perception. His research focus mainly on visual perception, including visual illusions, biological motion, depth perception, and visual scene analysis. He received his education at Oakland University and Vanderbilt University (USA), and worked at several US universities, focusing on cognitive psychology, statistics and experimental psychology.
